I am not sure if you know this but in addition to my solo projects I am also a member of a gospel group called, S.W.A.T. (Singers With a Testimony). We will be performing this Sunday at Blue Note in NYC. Please come out if you can!

KENDRA ROSS NEWS: GO SHAWTY…IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY!

Dear friends-

Aren’t holidays grand? Especially when you have loved ones to share them with. You can’t take any of those moments for granted. I truly count it a blessing to have such a wonderful group of family members and friends who love me just as much as I love them…flaws and all.

As you can see, this past holiday weekend has put me in such a festive mood which is perfect timing because…I will be celebrating my birthday all this week (Dec 4th)!

Come join me in thanking God for yet another chance to get it right. I will be performing this Friday, December 5th, 2008, at the great Rockwood Music Hall, 196 Allen Street @ 8PM sharp (they are serious about time and another act is up at 9PM) and best of all it is FREE! Please don’t leave your coins at home though…we will be passing the collection plate (no for real…this is how we pay the musicians)! On stage with me will be some of the best musicians in the biz: Gary Fritz on percussion, Nicole Hamilton on backing vocals, Lonnie Plaxico on upright bass, and Christian Ver Halen on guitar. By the way, to all of those who asked about how I did on my Ethnology mid-term…I didn’t do half bad. Thank you for your prayers.

Next up this month: Writing new material for the next album, preping my applications for PhD programs, a funky fresh remix of “I’m So Okay” and FINALLY the release of my debut music video. STaY TuNeD…

Greetings and salutations, my friends!

If I sound uncharacteristically chipper, it is because I am still celebrating the amazing wave of change that is sweeping over our nation and the world this week. I know that I don’t need to get specific but I WILL say that I have just begun a new research project as a result of this unprecedented historical moment: “Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong”: Black Love in the Obama Era. Stay tuned for more on that!

ALL NEW YORK HEADS….please come check out my next show at Tillman’s in Chelsea on Monday, November 24th at 8PM (see below). I will be doing two short, sweet, sexy, and best of all FREE sets! This place is very cute and has really cool food and drinks so def come through. You never know who you might run into.

Finally, I will be doing a set for my bday celebration week in early December. I’ll give you more details on that one after my Tillman’s hit…I am such a tease!

Anyway, I get my Ethnology mid-term back tomorrow so pray for me. This is my first step towards pursuing one of my other dreams…working towards a PhD in Anthropology.
