Hold on just a little while longer…

Hi all-

How goes it?

I know I am taking my good sweet time with this new album and revamped site but I promise you…a change is gonna come this year! I’ve been working hard and learning new things and heck…I’ve been just living my life…BUT…I am getting closer and closer. Spring/Summer is always a great time to bring the freshness, no? I got you…real soon.

Please hang on just a little while more…until then…

Much love to you all,

NYC (THIS SUNDAY!) ME, GREGORY PORTER, & ABBY DOBSON

AND YOU SAY NYC…What are you doing this weekend? I know what you SHOULD be doing…

This Sunday, June 5th at 8PM (Doors at 6PM), I will be sharing a bill with two of the best vocalists of my generation, Abby Dobson and Gregory Porter…it’s going down! The show is at the Highline Ballroom and is presented by the Blue Note Jazz Festival. The Legendary Blue Note is celebrating its 30th Anniversary by rolling out their first ever month long jazz festival. I count it an honor to play a part in such an amazing event, which runs the entire month of June in venues all over NYC featuring performances by Chaka Khan, Kathleen Battle, Bobby McFerrin, Nancy Wilson, Dave Brubeck and many more…www.bluenotejazzfestival.com

For those of you who do not know my bill-mates (if you don’t you should!):

Gregory Porter is a critically acclaimed singer who just released his debut album, Water, last year and garnered a Grammy nomination for it. His voice is heavenly…think: modern day Nat King Cole…killin’! I am a HUGE fan. Check him out at www.gregoryporter.com

Abby Dobson is not only one of my favorite vocalists, but a dear friend and musical collaborator. Her beautiful voice is all the calling card she needs…a REAL singer’s singer. She also released her debut album, Sleeping Beauty: You Are the One You’ve Been Waiting On late last year. For more info, go to: http://www.reverbnation.com/abbydobson

My set will also feature a special guest appearance by one of my longtime musical collaborators and friends, legendary hip-hop artist Talib Kweli. (BTW- He’s also doing his own Blue Note Jazz Festival show with the homie Res together as Idle Warship on June 10th at BB Kings NYC.) It ain’t about genres…it’s about that good music!!!

I’ll see you Sunday. Please get your tickets now…they are really going fast! Oh and get there early…doors at 6PM; show starts at 8PM sharp. We’re giving you three full sets of music for the price of one…don’t miss a thing!

(FREE DOWNLOAD) 2011: THE YEAR OF AWESOMENESS- NEW MUSIC FROM ME, TALIB KWELI & MORE TO COME

HAPPY NEW YEAR DARLINS!

I am super late, but I did not want to bug you until I had some good stuff to share…alas I do!
2011 is already shaping up to be an awesome year, is it not?

TALIB KWELI: THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN HIP HOP

On January 25th, your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, Talib Kweli, released his 9th album entitled, “Gutter Rainbows” via Javotti Media/3D. The album is BANOODLES and I am not just saying that because I am singing on a few cuts.
I am featured and a co-writer on the song, “Wait For You” produced by S-1.
The album is only available digitally in North America, so hit up iTunes, Amazon, or your favorite digital store.
(Pssst…I am not going to tell you where to buy the record but I also co-write/sing on the Amazon bonus track “GMB”…do with that information what you will. ;-)
If you refuse to enter the digital age, there are a few import physical copies available via Amazon.com and FatBeats.com.
Go get this album and support good music…you will not be disappointed!
Dude has been #1 on the iTunes Hip Hop chart all week with no radio single…who does that?

I’M SO OKAY (YELLOWTAIL REMIX)

After a long wait, I finally have some new music to share with you.
It has been so long that I have decided to let you download the track for free via my SoundCloud page.
I HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
Please shoot me an email
and let me know at kendra@kendraross.com.
It is the remix to fan fave “I’m So Okay” (from NEW VOICE) written by Jeff Binder and yours truly.
Shout out to the homie Yellowtail for whipping up this dope remix for me.
Just for kicks, I’ve also included the video (directed by Will Feagins of High Impact Multimedia) for the original recording of the record below.

Thank you for your patience as I continue to record new music for my sophomore album and some other stuff just for fun. I hope to have more to share with you real soon.
In the meantime, you can continue to support my debut album “New Voice” as well as the latest projects by Quincy Jones (Q: Soul Bossa Nostra) and Abby Dobson (Sleeping Beauty) both of which I am also singing on.
You are appreciated…know that!!!
More to come…
BLESSINGS,
KENDRA
